                      Medical coding is the process of assigning codes to medical diagnoses and procedures. It is used to facilitate the reporting of healthcare services and procedures to insurance companies, government programs, and other payers. Coding is done using a specialized coding system, such as the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) or Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).  


                     International Classification of Diseases or ICD codes are set of diagnostic codes set and managed by World Health Organisation (WHO). These codes contains patient's diagnosis, signs and symptoms or any other abnormal findings on a patient. for instance ICD code, P35.3 denotes congenital viral hepatitis.

                     Congenital viral hepatitis is a condition in which a baby is born with hepatitis due to their mother's infection during pregnancy. The most common cause of congenital viral hepatitis is hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV). In some cases, the baby may be infected with both viruses. 

                    Symptoms of congenital viral hepatitis may include jaundice, enlarged liver, and failure to thrive. Without treatment, the condition can cause severe liver damage, including cirrhosis and liver cancer. 


              Treatment for congenital viral hepatitis depends on the specific virus involved. For HBV, the baby may be given a combination of antiviral drugs. For HCV, the baby may be given an antiviral drug in combination with an immune system-modifying drug. In some cases, a liver transplant may be necessary.
